United Way Gears Up for Water Drive: July 4th-11th

The United Way of 1000 Lakes mobilizes community Water Drive to aid
flood-affected residents in Aitkin County and surrounding communities. Help
kick-off the week-long drive this Fourth of July by making a donation at one
of the numerous drop-off sites throughout Grand Rapids. The drive will run
from July 4th - 11th with the goal to collect 10,000 bottles.

To help, simply drop-off cases of bottled water and sealed gallon jugs at
one of four drop-off locations (Cub Foods, Wal-Mart, Ogle's Marketplace
Foods, and Second Harvest North Central Food Bank). The water will be
delivered to areas most impacted by the floodwaters with the help of UPS and
the Second Harvest. Donors with large deliveries should call ahead at (218)
999-7570 or (218) 259-9535.

The drive is a coordinated effort with Aitkin County, the American Red Cross
and the Salvation Army to bring a basic need to flood victims in Aitkin,
McGregor and Big Sandy Lake, many are expected to be without drinking water
or power for several weeks.
